Engage your child's interest in different foods by checking out baking or cooking classes that may be available nearby. By showing your child a broad variety of foods and methods of preparation, you will help him or her become familiar with many different ways of eating.
You can substitute dairy products. Lower fat substitutes contain less calories and unhealthy cholesterol. If you are making a dip that calls for sour cream, use plain yogurt instead. Try using evaporated milk that is fat-free in the place of heavy cream. Try using ricotta or cottage cheese as a replacement for cream cheese.
