If you have never worked out before, consider buying one or two sessions with a trainer to learn proper form and good exercises to use while you are starting out. A good trainer will work with you to determine your goals and problem areas and will recommend a workout program for you. Working with a trainer has the added benefit of preparing you to deal with all the ins and outs of gym etiquette. You will have a great start and a plan that you're comfortable with.
